2 Questions About Ebook

I have two questions about the ebook.

  1. Will it soon be offered on Kindle?
  2. If I buy the ebook now do I automatically get revision updates (perhaps at least within the same major version number), e.g. 1.4.7-1.4.9?

Thanks for your questions, and following is the reply:

  1. We will give another shot to Kindle recently. From our experience last time (two years ago), it is impossible to convert the symbols and figures intact after converting from PDF to Kindle. This time we shall try https://kdp.amazon.com/help?topicId=A328FYMFAE7VNY#pdf again, and will definitely let you know what’s happen this time.
  2. As far as I know, ebook on Google Play does not get auto update even though we really want this feature but Google Play does not support that. Another thing we tried before is creating coupon for people who bought ebook before. However, Google Play does not have a reliable mechanism on that.

We have tried to create a Kindle version based on our Latex generated PDF and sadly the layout is still ruined so we probably won’t publish Kindle version anytime soon.

Thanks so much for the response. That’s too bad to hear that Kindle output is “broken”. 'Just to add context, my two questions were motivated by the following facts. First is that I no longer buy paper books if I can avoid it. Second, I prefer to read books on my Kindle instead of my phone/tablet (I can study outside in the sun. :smile:). Last, is that I have a compulsion for having the latest/debugged version. As such, I’ve already bought two paper copies of your book. I was hoping to buy a third copy (the ebook) if it would stay up to date, and I wouldn’t have to buy any more updates.

You are a wonderful reader, and thanks so much for your support on EPI. Personally I believe ebook will be the future of books for sure, and what the status quo now is that Kindle is not good at handling PDF file which we created from Latex.
